Reader is designed with absolute privacy as a foundational principle. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data, telemetry, analytics, reading history, or uploaded book content. Everything stays strictly on your local device.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Reader does not require an account, email address, password, or subscription. We have zero visibility into:

The books, documents, or plain-text files you import or read.
Your reading progress, reading speed, time spent reading, or reading habits.
Highlights, bookmarks, notes, or annotations you create.
Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP addresses, or location data.

2. Local Data Storage & Sandboxing

All imported files (EPUB, MOBI, FB2, TXT, MD), reading positions, bookmarks, highlights, and user preferences are saved strictly within Apple’s secure application sandbox on your device (iOS and macOS). Your reading position is persisted locally using lightweight JSON and is never synced to external third-party servers.

3. Local WiFi Transfer Security

Reader includes a local WiFi file transfer feature to allow easy transfer of books from a computer on your home or office network:

The HTTP transfer server operates entirely inside your local network (LAN) and only runs while you actively open the WiFi Transfer screen.
No data routes through external cloud relays, proxy servers, or remote endpoints.
The server terminates immediately when you close the WiFi Transfer sheet.

4. SpeechReader & Voice Synthesis

The read-aloud feature relies exclusively on Apple's native on-device AVSpeechSynthesizer framework. Book text is converted to speech on your local hardware without transmitting text to external speech-processing APIs or third-party cloud services.

5. Third-Party Analytics & Tracking

Reader contains zero third-party software development kits (SDKs), zero tracking pixels, zero crash-reporting surveillance, and zero advertisement networks. We do not participate in cross-app tracking or data brokerage.

6. Children’s Privacy

Because Reader does not collect personal information of any kind from any user, it is completely safe for children and complies with privacy regulations including COPPA and GDPR.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy in the future, revisions will be posted openly on this website with an updated effective date. Given our architecture, our commitment to zero data collection remains permanent.
