Overview

PR Tracker is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your immigration data is sensitive, and we treat it that way. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and what stays entirely on your device.

All your travel data, document scans, and profile information are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to any server.

Data We Collect

Data stored only on your device

All of the following is stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework and is never transmitted to any server:

Travel entry dates (arrivals and departures)
Profile names
PR date and PR card expiry date
App settings and preferences
Document scans (passport, PR card, COPR, etc.)
Checklist progress

iCloud Sync

PR Tracker does not use iCloud sync. Your data does not leave your device unless you explicitly export it.

Location Data

If you enable Location Tracking, PR Tracker uses Apple's significant-change location monitoring to detect when you cross the Canadian border. This means:

Location updates are triggered only when your device detects a significant change (e.g. moving to a new cell tower area), not continuously
Your coordinates are used only to determine whether you are in Canada via reverse geocoding
Location data is never stored, logged, or transmitted — it is used in-memory only to trigger a suggestion prompt
You can disable location tracking at any time in Settings

Location access requires "Always" permission to work in the background. You can revoke this at any time in iOS Settings → PR Tracker → Location.

Notifications

If you enable notifications, PR Tracker schedules local notifications on your device for:

Absence limit alerts
Eligibility milestones
PR card expiry reminders
Weekly log reminders

All notifications are local — they are scheduled on-device and do not involve any external server.

Calendar Access

If you connect your calendar, PR Tracker reads events to find travel-related keywords and suggests them as potential stay entries. Calendar data is:

Read-only
Never stored or transmitted
Used only within the app session to generate suggestions

Biometric Authentication

Document scans are protected by Face ID or Touch ID via Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS and is never accessible to PR Tracker.

Analytics and Tracking

PR Tracker does not use:

Third-party analytics (e.g. Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude)
Advertising SDKs
Crash reporting services
Any form of user tracking or fingerprinting

Data Export and Import

When you export your data as JSON or CSV, the file is saved to your device and shared via the iOS share sheet. You control where it goes. PR Tracker does not receive a copy.

In-App Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. PR Tracker does not collect or store payment information.

Children's Privacy

PR Tracker is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
