GlobalStay is engineered with privacy as a foundational principle. Your travel movements, passport information, visa details, and residency status are strictly personal and sensitive. This policy explains what data the app processes, how it is handled, and our unwavering commitment to keeping your data entirely on your device.

Our Core Commitment
GlobalStay operates on an offline-first, local-storage architecture. We do not operate user accounts, we do not run external user tracking databases, and your personal travel records never leave your physical device unless you explicitly export them.

Data We Process

All application records are managed locally on your device via Apple's native SwiftData framework. None of this information is ever uploaded or accessible to macspot.net or any third party:

  • Travel Entries & Presence Records: Country codes, arrival dates, departure dates, transit flags, stay categories (e.g., Tourist, Nomad, Work, Citizen), and personal notes.
  • Presence Rules & Monitors: Configuration settings for the Schengen 90/180 rolling rule, US Substantial Presence Test (SPT), UK Statutory Residence Test (SRT), 183-day tax watchlists, and custom duration rules.
  • Travel Documents Vault: Document categories (passports, visas, residency cards, digital nomad authorizations, citizenship), document numbers, holder names, issue dates, expiry dates, and stay constraints.
  • Document Scans & Attachments: High-resolution photos, images, and PDF visas/permits attached directly to document profiles or stays.
  • Application Preferences: Appearance themes, alert thresholds, and dashboard preferences stored locally in standard UserDefaults.

Device Permissions & On-Device Processing

GlobalStay requests only the minimum necessary system permissions to power its features, handling all logic entirely on your device:

🔐 Biometric Authentication

Vault locks utilize Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Biometric data (Face ID / Touch ID) remains isolated within Apple's hardware Secure Enclave; GlobalStay never has access to raw biometric data.

🔔 Local Notifications

Alerts for Schengen rolling limits, US/UK presence thresholds, and 6-month passport expiration warnings are scheduled locally via UserNotifications without external push servers.

📅 Calendar Access (Optional)

If opted into, EventKit scans events in-memory solely for flight and trip keywords during that session. No calendar data is stored or transmitted without user confirmation.

📷 Document Scans & Photos

Imported via iOS system pickers (PhotosPicker / Document Picker) directly into local SwiftData storage. Your photo library is never analyzed or indexed.

Location Data Notice

GlobalStay does NOT collect, track, or record your physical GPS location. Stays and presence days are managed either manually or via verified calendar imports.

iCloud Sync

GlobalStay does not maintain an independent cloud sync service. Your records stay strictly on your local device, protected by iOS data protection, unless included in your device-wide encrypted Apple iCloud Device Backups.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

In accordance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency guidelines and Privacy Manifest requirements:

  • Zero Third-Party Analytics: No integration with Google Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar tools.
  • Zero Advertisements: No ad networks, tracking pixels, or marketing SDKs.
  • No Diagnostics or Fingerprinting: No crash data or device identifiers are collected or shared.

Data Export & Portability

When you export your travel ledger (CSV or JSON format) for accounting or immigration filings, the document is generated on-device and delivered through the iOS system share sheet. We never receive or retain a copy.

In-App Purchases (GlobalStay Pro)

Purchases for GlobalStay Pro are transacted directly with Apple using StoreKit 2. We do not collect, process, or store financial details or credit card information. Receipt validation is verified on-device with Apple.

Children's Privacy

GlobalStay is not directed to individuals under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as needed to reflect app updates or regulatory standards. The "Last updated" date will always reflect the latest revision.
